We’re looking for a Team Leader to set up and lead the new Innovative Permitting team in Operations Catchment Services. You will lead a team of technical experts in establishing the Innovative Permitting team, ensuring that outputs are timely and on budget. The knowledge and advice your team provide will shape stakeholder agendas to ensure that plans are in place for a high quality water environment now and into the future. As a successful team leader, your influence will be felt across the service and you will be expected to:• Provide effective leadership and clarity of direction in a new team;• Develop and lead a dispersed team of water quality specialists;• Support effective cross-departmental working within the EA, and with external stakeholders;• Support and enable development of new permitting approaches with National and Area teams and external partners.You will be based in, and managing, a dispersed team If you’re passionate about the environment and people, and leadership is part of your career plan, this is the role for you! We are seeking an individual with leadership experience, who has a strong commitment to people and excellent communication and influencing skills. Knowledge of the water quality or experience of regulation in another field is desirable but not essential. You’ll be qualified to at least degree standard (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. You will possess proven ability of:• Effective working with external organisations, particularly water companies;• Using strong communication and networking skills to influence or help deliver outcomes;• Evaluating evidence to propose effective solutions for challenging problems;• Shaping and facilitating change or new ways of working to improve efficiency and productivity.You should be experienced in working in a dispersed team. You will be expected to travel for national meetings with occasional overnight stays.
