Water Resources Senior Advisor - Communication Specialist

Inventing the Future, Creating the Plan and Enabling Operations.The pressure on water resources continues to be evident and increasing challenges will be felt with a growing population and changing climate. Without intervention England will see significant supply deficits by 2050 and increasing impacts on the environment.Future investment and changes to how we manage water is essential to increase resilience and reduce the risk to both people and the environment. We need to be able to clearly articulate the challenges and solutions so that we gain buy in and change attitudes and behaviours to water. The role will provide a breadth of opportunities across policy, technical, enabling operations, government and external liaison to shape and deliver key messages, working with technical staff to ensure how we communicate is at the forefront of our work. Key elements will include developing and leading the Water Management & Investment brand and communication strategy. Producing materials for internal and external use. Increasing the understanding and use of effective communication. Working on bespoke technical issues to translate and communicate. Delivering proactive and reactive communication. The post will need to work closely with the Water Land & Biodiversity engagement Hub. - A passion for the environment and water, with moderate understanding of Water Management - Conveys information and ideas clearly, accurately, and persuasively through speech and writing- A creative thinker with experience of a wide variety of effective communication channels - Ability to see across work areas to provide a clear joined up narrative - Aptitude to draw out key messages and develop approaches from technical information - Can work in both slow and fast time to both build communications and respond reactively when required.
