Required to start asap, a receptionist/administrative assistant for a busy office in our large primary school. This role will involve dealing with enquiries from parents, children, staff and members of the public.
You will also be required to carry out a varied range of general administrative duties including photocopying and using our management information system (Arbor) for administration of school meals, clubs & trips, correspondence to parents via email/text & letters etc. under the direction of our School Business Manager. Previous administrative experience would be an advantage.
You will need to have strong communication skills and an ability to work using your own initiative as well as being an excellent team player. We are looking for a positive, approachable, friendly and professional person to be the first point of contact for our school.

Role Purpose
To provide efficient and effective clerical and administrative support to the school.
Accountabilities
Undertake routine and straightforward allocated clerical support activities in accordance with well-defined processes and protocols, such as photocopying, filing, e-mailing, reconciling information etc.Undertake word processing and other straightforward ICT related tasks as required and requested, such as typing standard letters, entering straightforward information into databases etc, to support service delivery.Where meetings or events require the set-up of rooms and facilities, arrange seating and prepare materials as directed to support the smooth-running of meetings and events.Act as first point of contact for enquiries, efficiently passing the request through to the appropriate person or taking an accurate message, to ensure all enquiries are responded to in a timely manner. This might also include handling basic and routine enquiries directly themselves.Where required, take payments from parents/carers and accurately record and process the transaction, in line with East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s financial procedures to ensure funds are appropriately handled.Knowledge / Skills / Experience required
Basic knowledge of standard ICT packages such as Word and Excel.Some knowledge of straightforward administrative processes.Experience of undertaking administrative and clerical tasks, including handling monies if relevant to the role.Some experience of dealing with customers face to face, via telephone, and email.Ability to communicate with customers and colleagues in a polite and efficient manner.Ability to work to deadlines as set by others.Understanding of data protection and confidentiality procedures.
