Assistant Project Manager reference: 1c853a5a81

Job at SSE in Dundee, Dundee City Council, DD2

We are excited to present an opportunity for an enthusiastic Assistant Project Manager to join SSEN Transmission's Onshore Capital Delivery team. This role is pivotal in supporting the delivery of critical transmission projects, with an initial focus on the East Coast 400kV Overhead Line Upgrade project. If you have a background in construction or engineering and a passion for project management, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

Key Advantages for Candidates:

  • Impactful Work: Contribute directly to a vital infrastructure upgrade project, playing a key role in building a network for net zero and ensuring a cleaner, more secure energy future for generations to come.
  • Career Development: Gain hands-on experience in project management within a dynamic multi-disciplinary team. You'll be involved in both development and construction phases, enhancing your skills in cost control, contract management, and safety leadership.
  • Competitive Remuneration: The role offers a strong salary range of £35,200 - £52,800, supplemented by a car/allowance, performance-related bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package.
  • Flexible Working: We embrace a "Flexible First" approach, offering options that support a healthy work-life balance.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: SSE provides a wide range of benefits designed to support your family, finances, and wellbeing, including private healthcare discounts, gym memberships, a free online GP, 24/7 counselling, and schemes like Cycle to Work.
  • Supportive Environment: Join an organisation committed to fostering an open, inclusive, and equal opportunity workplace where everyone can thrive.

Key Considerations for Candidates:

  • Location Requirements: This role requires you to be based in either Aberdeen or Perth. A significant aspect of the role involves a minimum of 3 days per week attendance on site in Edzell, Angus.
  • Driving Requirement: A full current driving licence is essential due to the need to travel to and be on site for project activities.
  • Project Lifecycle Exposure: While the initial focus is on an overhead line upgrade, you will be involved in managing work packages, contributing to budget planning, supporting tender packages, and assisting with contract management, offering broad exposure to project commercial aspects.
  • Safety Focus: A strong commitment to safety is paramount. You will be expected to develop a clear understanding of safety management systems and ensure project teams operate in line with SSE's safety expectations.
  • Technical Familiarity: Experience in a project environment, ideally within construction and/or engineering, is crucial. Familiarity with health and safety legislation (including CDM Regulations) and project programming software (such as P6) will be highly advantageous. Understanding of NEC3 contract administration is also beneficial.
  • Background Checks: Successful candidates will be required to complete criminality and credit checks as part of the onboarding process.

This Assistant Project Manager position offers a compelling opportunity for individuals looking to build a successful career in the energy sector. You'll be part of a forward-thinking company making a tangible difference to the future of energy infrastructure.
