Job Description Assistant Resident Engineer (Electrical) -Submarines Full Time Faslane What you will be doing An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical and Electronic Engineer within the Faslane Resident Engineers Office, based at HMNB Clyde â Home of the UK Submarine Service. Located north of Helensburgh, within the Helensburgh and Lomond Area of Argyll and Bute, Scotland, the Resident Engineers Office is part of the Rolls-Royce Submarines Services Department. The team currently comprises 12 mechanical and electrical engineers working within dockyard environment. Its primary role is to ensure the design intent of the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP) is not prejudiced during the repair, maintenance and testing of the NSRP. The site office provides technical support and advice to the Ships Staff, Repair Organisation (Babcock Marine) and an array of local/remote stakeholders. The successful candidate will be expected to gain relevant experience in the planning, repair, maintenance, revalidation and commissioning of reactor systems on VANGUARD, ASTUTE and DREADNOUGHT Classes of nuclear powered submarines. The engineer will report to the site office management team and expected to qualify as Rolls-Royce member of the Procedure Authorisation Group (PAG). Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to gain relevant experience in the planning, repair, maintenance, revalidation and commissioning of reactor systems on VANGUARD, ASTUTE and DREADNOUGHT Classes of nuclear powered submarines. The engineer will report to the site office management team and expected to qualify as Rolls-Royce member of the Procedure Authorisation Group (PAG). The role will include but not limited to: Defect reporting. Conduct onboard submarine inspections, investigations, and surveys. Review a variety of NSRP related documentation. Following qualification attend PAG meetings on behalf of Rolls-Royce and the MoD Nuclear Propulsion Project Team. Maintain technical records and provide technical responses as required. The candidate will exhibit the following key characteristics: Broad understanding of engineering principles. Ability to operate with limited supervision. Be comfortable working in a Radiation environment. General understanding of nuclear systems is preferred but not essential. Chartered Engineer status or ability to achieve during training.
