The job itself

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and proactive Caretaker to join our friendly team at Thorngumbald Primary School.

The successful applicant will take pride in keeping our school safe, clean, and welcoming for all pupils, staff, and visitors. You will be responsible for the general maintenance, security, and cleanliness of the school site, ensuring that all facilities are in good working order and that health and safety standards are maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Opening and closing the school each day and ensuring site security.Carrying out minor repairs, maintenance, and DIY tasks.Managing cleaning routines and liaising with cleaning staff or contractors.Ensuring playgrounds, paths, and outdoor areas are safe and well maintained.Monitoring heating, lighting, and energy systems.Supporting staff with site-related needs for events or school activities.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

Is practical, dependable, and takes pride in their work.Has basic maintenance, DIY, or site management experience.Works well independently and as part of a team.Understands the importance of maintaining a safe school environment.(Optional) Holds a valid driving licence or is able to travel to the site easily.
