Climate Adaptation Manager

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to: - Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, London, Belfast or Dublin

Salary: £50100- £75100 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

While SSE is at the forefront of the clean energy transition, the latest science clearly shows that climate change is accelerating. As Climate Adaptation Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring SSE is sufficiently prepared and resilient to a climate changed world.

Reporting directly to SSEs Head of Climate, you will lead the development of a SSEs group strategy for Climate Adaptation and embed a framework to oversee business unit climate resilience strategies and adaptations plans.

This exciting role focused on climate risk, resilience and adaptation will ensure SSEs assets and operations are resilient to the impacts of climate change.

Lead the development of SSEs group-wide strategy for Climate Adaptation and framework to oversee business unit adaptation plans and strategies. Consolidate, align and catalogue climate risk assessments and scenarios used in business planning and large capital project frameworks. Manage the governance forum and working group that overseas SSEs approach to climate resilience and adaptation. Provide expertise and coordination to climate leads within SSE businesses on climate risk assessments, adaptation and policy development. Prepare climate disclosures and KPIs in alignment with international standards, emerging regulations and national adaptation reporting requirements.

You have

Proven experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, or environmental risk management within energy, infrastructure, or related sectors. Expert knowledge of climate science, risk assessment methodologies, and adaptation strategies Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and practical solutions Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and Business Units to reach alignment on policies, strategies and plans Degree or equivalent in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, or a related subject
