Community Links Advisor (Redhill, Surrey)

Job at Recovery Focus in Redhill, Surrey, RH1

£10,296 (pro rata of £25,741) inclusive per annum Part-time 15 hours per week Redhill, Surrey You have demonstrable experience of working with/supporting individuals with mental health problems, including providing advice and guidance, developing structured action plans and setting goals. You’d also like to be part of an organisation that counts on the professionalism, insight, expertise and passion of its staff to inspire individual recovery for the people they work with. Welcome to Waythrough as a Community Links Advisor. Wingfield Resource Centre is a mental health, supported housing and community based service, working to a recovery model. We provide a range of support services for people with mental ill health to access in their local community, including outreach support, peer support and supported housing. We have been operating in the area for a number of years and offer a staffed service to our residents aged 18 and upwards. Any big change or life event is likely to be accompanied by a mixture of emotions; becoming a parent is no exception. Parents can feel pressure to be nothing but grateful for parenthood and that having children is only ever rewarding. This makes speaking up about the challenges and asking for help more difficult and can lead to feelings of guilt and shame. This 2 year pilot service will provide early intervention outreach, offering preventative support to parents of young families living in East Surrey. This support will focus on maintaining positive mental health and well-being, by increasing support and social networks. It will include the offer of a Wellbeing Assessment to identify the person needs, digital support tools then signposting or referrals to ongoing community support resources (e.g., reducing isolation, building resilience and peer networks), as well as follow-up appointments to ensure that the support was appropriate, and the person is engaging before closing their placement. As well as supporting individuals, a part of your role will be to build on networks within these communities, identifying individual needs and working closely with our Waythrough Community Connections team to create opportunities to address those needs. When adults find it difficult to reach out and access support or even acknowledge their emotions, it's often because of the environment that they have been raised in. We hope that this service could be a small step towards breaking that cycle for these children. By motivating parents of young children to focus on their wellbeing and learn different ways of managing their emotions, we hope that they will pass this knowledge onto their children, along with the attitude that it's not only acceptable, but important to focus on your own wellbeing. If you are kind, empathetic, a great communicator and passionate about supporting the mental and emotional wellbeing of families and communities, this could be the perfect role for you. Experience of working within a mental health setting will be beneficial, as well as experience of working in the community, liaising with a range of individuals and organisations to provide positive outcomes for individuals and their families. In return for your skills and enthusiasm, this role comes with some really great benefits and excellent training and development opportunities. This is a 12 month fixed term part‐time post at 15 hours a week. To review the Job Description please click here. We are committed to increasing our diversity and we would welcome applications from those with lived experience and/or anyone from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic group. This is a rolling recruitment process. Candidates will be interviewed as and when they are shortlisted. When applying, please upload a CV and supporting statement which should clearly outline your skills and experience. Learning and development is important to us, and we are pleased to be able to offer a wide range of apprenticeships. We hire apprentices into specific roles as well as offering apprenticeships to the workforce. Anyone can apply to undertake an apprenticeship relevant to the role as long as they are in a permanent post and have successfully passed probation. Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value. We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support. We have almost 200 services around England – and nearly 3,500 amazing staff and volunteers who run them. Every year our services support around 125,000 people. Bringing together two big organisations is not a small task and it’ll take a while to fully integrate our systems, processes and approaches. That why you will notice the jobs here are still branded ‘Richmond Fellowship’ or ‘Aquarius’ (our subsidiary charity in the Midlands). Next year we’ll be fully integrating our recruitment systems but for now they are separate. Thanks for bearing with us – and don’t forget to check out the Waythrough jobs on the Humankind job site https://peoplekind.my.salesforce-sites.com/recruit/ Aquarius Aquarius is a subsidiary of Waythrough.
