The role

As a Controller, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of Front Desk Operations within the Mechanical Transport Section.

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

Accurately book all vehicle tasks in and out, ensuring users complete the correct paperwork in line with Mechanical Transport procedures, and confirm all vehicle repairs are actioned in accordance with the White Fleet Contract. Maintain the safe custody of MT keys, reporting any loss immediately to your Line Manager. Provide cover for the MT Control Supervisor when required, including tasking MT Drivers and briefing staff on shift commitments in their absence. Ensure daily vehicle inspections are completed and signed off, monitor driver punctuality to keep tasks on schedule, and manage bookings using computer systems to maintain accurate records and up-to-date paperwork. Coordinate the demand for stationery, equipment, and clothing (including PPE) required by MT before the end of each month.

This role is full time working 39 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Wyton, Cambridgeshire.

Essential experience of the Controller:

Strong familiarity with Military and MoD practices and procedures, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency. In-depth knowledge of EU regulations and tachograph requirements, maintaining adherence to legal standards. Proactive in seeking information and asking questions to expand knowledge on areas such as UK airports, and effectively communicating relevant details to the appropriate stakeholders.

Qualifications for the Controller:

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and related applications) to support efficient administrative and operational tasks. Strong literacy and numeracy skills, ensuring accuracy in communication and data handling.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (DBS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
