Base Location:Stornoway

Salary:£34,749 - £40,939 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

A Craftsperson is at the heart of our network, helping us to power change. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to develop an exciting career and further authorisations within SSE.

- 37 hour Working Week

- Full PPE and Tools supplied for the role.

You will

- Carry out construction, new connections and repair work on all our overhead/underground networks from LV up to and including 11/33kV.

- Be responsible for the safety of yourself and colleagues, whilst acting as an ambassador for a strong safety culture in everything you do.

- Work outdoors in all weather conditions with a requirement to undertake out of hours standby duties and short notice attendance for storm situations. This can also result in overnight stays on occasions.

- Travel to our Training Facility in Perth for various courses.

- Learn and develop your career to obtain LV and HV switching authorisations, and further to gain SAP authorisation.

You have

- Industry experience in the UK on or around overhead lines or underground cables with electrical experience would be highly advantageous however not essential.

- The ability to work at heights, previous experience is desirable.

- A high regard for safety, embedding yourself in our safety culture and adhering to guidelines in everything you do is a key priority, strong communication skills and an ability to convey technical aspects in a transferable manner, enthusiasm and drive with a flexible approach to work and an ability to adapt to changing business and project priorities.

Please note, this role can be physically demanding, and suits someone with an active and flexible lifestyle as you will be required to fulfil a standby role.It is an essential requirement that you hold a full UK driving license for this role.
