About your role: As a vital member of the Data Engineering team, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining robust and scalable data pipelines and models. Your efforts will empower Data Analysts, Management Information teams, and Data Science initiatives by ensuring seamless data integrity, availability, and accessibility. This position offers the opportunity to shape data infrastructure that drives critical business decisions and innovative solutions. Key aspects of this role are: Data Pipeline Development: Create and implement effective ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to support seamless data integration from diverse sources into British Gas Business Data Estate. Data Product Engineering: Partner with Data Analysts and Data Scientists to gather and meet requirements for developing advanced analytics and machine learning solutions. Data Quality: Establish and conduct audits and validation processes to uphold data accuracy and reliability. Data Architecture: Design and sustain data infrastructure and architecture to meet organizational needs. Optimisation: Enhance data retrieval and storage systems to maximise performance while minimising costs. Technical Support: Deliver technical assistance and resolve issues related to data systems and processes. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of data engineering procedures and best practices for reference and improvement. Here's what weâre looking for: Extensive expertise in data engineering, with a proven experience in designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and data models. Strong skills in data modelling and data warehousing underpin this expertise. Proficient in cloud services and cloud-based data engineering tools, such as AWS, Azure, Microsoft Fabric and Databricks, as well as big data technologies like Hadoop and Spark. Experience in programming languages, including Python, PySpark and Scala Experienced in mentoring and developing less experienced Data Engineers, guiding them to grow their technical skills and capabilities.
