Our Careers and Employment Service (CES) team provide a range of information, advice and guidance services to University of Derby students and graduates for up to three years of graduation.
The CES support all students and graduates to develop their employability skills, gain relevant experience such as internships, placements and graduate jobs by working collaboratively with Academics and Employers.
The CES strategy is to open doors for everyone, enabling work ready graduates in securing high skilled graduate outcomes including enterprise, new business start-up and post graduate opportunities.
The Careers and Employment Service offers four structured placement opportunities each year, designed to help students gain valuable real-world experience across a variety of sectors. These placements provide hands-on exposure to professional environments, enhance employability skills, and support career development through practical learning.
Data and Reporting - You will work within the Careers and Employment Service (CES) to collect and analyse service data, feedback, and labour market intelligence, producing reports that inform CES activity and impact. The role supports monthly reporting and helps shape the student and graduate offer. As part of the student/graduate pool, you’ll also provide first-point-of-contact support in CES spaces, assisting with queries and signposting services.Recruitment Agency Assistant – You will support the Student Employment Agency within the Careers and Employment Service (CES) by assisting with student registration, Right to Work checks, and compliance processes. The role also involves responding to student queries and promoting the service to both internal and external audiences.Marketing and Communications – You will support with the development and implementation of marketing activities to promote the Careers and Employment Service (CES) to students and graduates, through a wide range of channels. This includes creating content for student emails, developing and scheduling content for social media, and supporting with careers events. Employer Engagement – You will support with identifying and promoting a range of opportunities for students and graduates and supporting the team with the delivery of employability events and associated marketing. In addition, the role involves generating Labour Market Information and vacancy horizon scanning.The interview date for these positions will be Tuesday 27th May 2025.
To be successful in these roles; you will have strong administrative experience, demonstrating a solid track record of handling complex tasks with precision and efficiency. You will possess well-developed skills in data capture, input, and analysis, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all records and reporting. An exceptional attention to detail is essential, allowing you to identify discrepancies and maintain high standards in all aspects of administrative work.
You will also be an effective communicator, comfortable engaging with a wide range of audiences, including current students, alumni, internal colleagues, and external partners. Whether via email, phone, or face-to-face, you will convey information clearly and professionally, adapting your tone and approach as appropriate.
You will thrive when working independently, showing the initiative and confidence to prioritise your workload and manage competing deadlines. You will also be a strong team player, comfortable collaborating across departments and contributing to shared goals. Your approach to work will reflect a deep understanding of what constitutes excellent customer service, consistently striving to provide helpful, responsive, and respectful support to all stakeholders.
Please note - Students who are studying at the University of Derby on a Student Visa will NOT be eligible to apply for this role unless a placement year is a mandatory, graded part of your course.
