A bit about the job: This role exists to ensure the performance, integrity, and security of Aviva databases. You’ll be joining our Tech Platforms team, a collaborative group responsible for supporting the backbone of our digital infrastructure. You’ll design, implement, and maintain database systems, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and secure. You’ll monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required. You’ll perform database backups and recovery procedures, including disaster recovery tests alongside troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues in a timely manner. You’ll create and maintain documentation related to database configurations, processes, and procedures. You’ll also work closely with developers and IT teams to optimize database solutions and support business-critical applications. Some out-of-hour's work support needed, including evenings and weekends, will be required to support production deployments and general system maintenance. Skills and experience we’re looking for: Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role. In-depth knowledge of database management systems (DBMS), especially PostgreSQL and SQL Server. DB2 would be an advantage. Strong understanding of database design, implementation, and maintenance. Experience with database performance tuning and optimization alongside familiarity with database backup and recovery procedures.
