If you're a seasoned electrical, control, and instrumentation (CE&I) engineer with a passion for safety, governance, and strategic leadership, this Deputy Electrical Senior Authorised Engineer position presents a compelling opportunity to advance your career within a globally recognized industry leader.

This role is ideally suited for individuals who thrive in complex, regulated environments and possess a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance. You will be instrumental in shaping and deploying the electrical and instrumentation strategy across Westinghouse's Springfields site, a crucial hub for nuclear energy development.

Advantages for Candidates:

  • Strategic Impact: Play a pivotal role in defining and implementing the electrical and instrumentation strategy for a key site, influencing best practices and operational excellence.
  • Mentorship and Development: Opportunities abound to mentor and develop less experienced engineers, graduates, and apprentices, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and growth.
  • Professional Growth: Westinghouse is committed to your ongoing professional development, offering opportunities for mandatory training, pursuing external courses, and continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Diverse Engineering Exposure: Beyond core CE&I responsibilities, you'll have opportunities to contribute to wider engineering activities, including COMAH oversight and process safety, broadening your expertise.
  • Supportive Work Environment: Westinghouse fosters a culture where employees are challenged, supported, and enjoy their work, offering a balance of professional growth and personal well-being.
  • Attractive Compensation and Benefits: The company offers competitive remuneration, a comprehensive benefits package including a DC pension plan, life insurance, and a peer-to-peer recognition program.
  • Hybrid Working Flexibility: While primarily office-based, the role offers opportunities for home working, providing a degree of flexibility.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path:

  • Extensive Experience Required: This senior role demands a minimum of 10 years' experience in a relevant CE&I engineering environment, with a preference for nuclear or similarly regulated industries.
  • Strong Governance Focus: A proven track record in CE&I engineering governance is essential. You'll be responsible for setting standards, monitoring performance, and implementing corrective actions to ensure adherence to national and international standards, as well as UK Nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
  • Safety-Centric Mindset: A proactive and unwavering commitment to safety, encompassing both conventional and nuclear safety aspects, is paramount.
  • Leadership and Coordination: You will be expected to interface and coordinate effectively with Area Electrical Engineers, plant managers, other intelligent customers, and business leaders.
  • Technical Depth: A strong understanding of 11KV electrical distribution systems, including the ability to approve switching programs and oversee protection studies, is a significant advantage.
  • Regulatory Acumen: Familiarity with UK Construction Design & Management (2015) Regulations and a solid grasp of CE&I standards and regulations (national/international) are crucial.
  • Human Factors Integration: The application of Human Factors principles throughout all engineering works is a key requirement.
  • Chartered Status Encouraged: While preferred qualifications include C Eng / MIET / FIET, candidates actively pursuing chartered status (I Eng) will also be considered, indicating Westinghouse's support for professional accreditation.

This Deputy Electrical Senior Authorised Engineer role at Westinghouse is more than just a job; it's an invitation to be a driving force in a vital industry.
