Job at British Airways in West Drayton, Greater London

A career without limits

As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.

It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.

This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.

So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.

We know great things can happen when you’re inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.

The Role: Senior DevOps Engineer

Join the BA Digital team at British Airways as a Senior DevOps Engineer, where you’ll help shape the future of our technology platforms through automation, innovation, and collaboration. This pivotal role sits at the heart of our software engineering function, supporting agile delivery and promoting secure, scalable, and efficient systems that empower our teams and enhance our customer experience.

What You’ll Do:

Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code to improve consistency and accelerate delivery.

Promote a culture of monitoring and metrics-driven decisions to support data-led development and operations.

Deliver high-impact automation solutions to streamline the developer experience across key workflows including identity, configuration, and lifecycle management.

Collaborate with security teams to embed modern security practices into delivery pipelines and infrastructure strategies.

Play a key role in agile ceremonies and team collaboration, sharing best practices and driving continuous improvement.

Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a learning culture across the team.

What You’ll Bring to British Airways:

A proactive, adaptable mindset and a passion for innovation.

A strong commitment to collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

The ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly to diverse audiences.

Dedication to continuous learning and professional development—both for yourself and your team.

Your Experience:

Extensive hands-on experience with at least one major programming language (Python preferred), with the flexibility to adapt and learn quickly.

Deep expertise in CI/CD automation, Infrastructure as Code, and developer experience tooling.

Proven track record working with AWS technologies and Zero Trust security models.

Strong troubleshooting capabilities and experience supporting production systems.

Excellent documentation skills and an interest in sharing knowledge through internal and external communities.

Apply now and help us take British Airways to new heights.

What we offer:

We believe that all the people who work with us should feel valued for the part they play. It’s one of the reasons our rewards go far beyond a competitive salary.

From the day you join us, you’ll get access to brilliant staff travel benefits including unlimited basic and premium standby tickets on British Airways flights. You’ll also receive up to 30 discounted ‘Hotline’ airfares per year for yourself, friends, and family.

At British Airways you’ll have the chance to take on new challenges and move forward in a way that feels right for you. We encourage all those who work for us to consider opportunities right across our business to help you develop and progress.

We never stand still, and we don’t expect our people to either.
