Director - Global Health RWE & HOR Research Partnerships are key in the world of Global Health, and funding is mainly provided through supra-national organizations like GAVI or the Global Drug Fund. Funding decisions are made through early prioritization of the future assets based on disease burden, local disease awareness, as well as expected health, economic and societal impact of the assets. In a world where resources are scarce, it is crucial to understand stakeholders’ needs and develop targeted and robust evidence of the value of our pipeline. As Director, RWE&HOR Research Scientist for Global Health (GH), you will provide strategic and scientific leadership in the application of health outcomes and methods to address key challenges identified across all phases of medicine and vaccine development to deliver new interventions more efficiently and effectively to patients. The role will report directly into the Global Real-World Evidence & Health Outcomes Research Lead for Global Health. The role will be responsible for multiple disease areas and will be a key member of asset teams and other relevant matrix leadership teams. The Director, Global Real-World Evidence & Health Outcomes Research Lead Scientist will be accountable for engaging closely with access planning and matrix stakeholders and partner effectively in developing and implementing value evidence packages and plans. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: In this role you will: Be responsible for multiple disease areas (e.g. Malaria, Opportunity) and all the assets pertaining to these areas; provide thought leadership and be a trusted advisor within these disease areas with regards to RWE&HOR strategy. Represent RWE&HOR in the Disease Area Fora, the asset specific Access Working Groups, and where needed the MDT/VDTs. Develop asset specific value evidence packages and plans in close collaboration with the asset teams and the access working groups, to strengthen the target medicine/vaccine profile in alignment with the medicine/vaccine vision. Develop and maintain in depth knowledge of disease and asset related value evidence generated externally (through private public partnerships, WHO, and any other supra-national organisation), as well as of existing partnerships and public initiatives. Develop excellent working relations with external thought leaders in the diseases you are responsible for. Plan, design and execute projects for a given asset and manage timelines, deliverables, and budget. Projects can include non-interventional studies, literature reviews, health and/or economic models. Be an expert of the Global Health Impact Model (GHIM) for the disease areas you are responsible for. Identify opportunities to use the model for informing asset team decisions, ensure timely updates of the model for GH Investment Board meetings, and their continuous relevance with regards to external findings. Integrate assets in the GHIM at time of C2C governance, and ensure new models are developed where needed (eg in Opportunity) in close collaboration with the GH internal advisors and our external partner. Build strong working relationships with stakeholder groups across R&D, Epidemiology, Access, Scientific Affairs and Public Health (SAPH), Advocacy teams, to ensure strategic alignment and optimal cross-functional collaboration and communication Develop a deep understanding of stakeholders’ needs, including national (like medical societies, NITAGs) or supra-national bodies (like GAVI or Global Drug Fund), as well as their of acceptance of RWE or economic evidence and impact to their decision making. Represent GSK in scientific discussions with governance bodies, regulators, funders and at conferences. Contribute to advancing the science through membership of external initiatives (e.g., ISPOR, HTAi, IMI). Why you? Basic Qualifications: MSc, or equivalent in health outcomes, patient reported outcomes, health economics, epidemiology, pharmacy, health or life sciences Extensive experience working in pharmaceutical industry, preferably in a multi-national company Cross functional and autonomous working practices are essential in a global matrix environment. Applied experience in identifying evidence needs to strengthen value proposition, and utilizing evidence for the development of HTA submissions, reimbursement/funding and/or medical engagement Highly competent in the design, execution and publication of health and/or economic models, preferably using DALYs and/or in low-income country settings. Experience with a variety of study designs, i.e., RWE studies including prospective, cross-sectional and retrospective cohort studies. An understanding of the challenges and opportunities unique to the delivery of healthcare interventions for low and low-to-middle income countries (LICs and LMICs) Understanding of how health economics, health outcomes, comparative effectiveness research, PRO research and the use of PRO instruments can be applied at global and local decision-making levels, including support of clinical practice. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced scientific degree, e.g. PhD, PharmD or equivalent in health outcomes or similar Direct experience of engaging with LIC/LMICs through the delivery of health outcomes solutions Experience in external organisations pertaining to the Global Health environment R&D experience Why GSK?
