Electronic Trading Chief Controls Office

Join us as an Electronic Trading Chief Controls Officer at Barclays, where youll be pivotal in overseeing and enhancing the control framework for the bank's Markets Electronic Trading operations. Operating within a first-line risk and control team, you will interact with senior business leaders, technology and second-line functions to address complex challenges and ensure alignment with internal and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include managing risks and incidents, coordination of the Control Forum working closely with the Global Head of Electronic Trading and leading remediation projects to improve the control environment. The Electronic Trading Chief Controls Officer will also be tasked with driving issue resolution, setting control framework requirements and partnering with Electronic Trading businesses to ensure that they are compliant with the control framework.

To be successful as an Electronic Trading Chief Controls Officer at Barclays, you should have:

Previous Markets trading experience through a related controls, front office or second line role.Stakeholder managementexperience, including engaging with stakeholders at different levels of the organisation including ManagingDirectors and Business Heads.The ability to managepriorities and communication, balancing competing priorities and collaborating effectively across teams.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.Strongproblem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and drive solutions.Excellent written communication skills.

Other highly valued skills include:

Knowledge of electronic trading systems and controls, which is highly desirable.Knowledge of relevant Algorithmic Trading / Electronic Trading regulation in Europe or US (e.g. MiFID RTS 6, PRA SS5/18, Market Access Rule).

This role is hybrid and based in London.

Purpose of the role

To assess the integrity and effectiveness of the banks internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the banks operational, financial, and reputational risk.

Accountabilities

Collaboration with various stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.Identification and investigation of potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the banks control framework, prioritised by its severity to disrupt bank operations.Development of reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.Execution of reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework aligned to established and evolving policies, regulation, and best practice.Implementation of adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and set appropriate methodology of assessing controls against the Controls Framework.
