Engineering Clerk - 1 year fixed term contract

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to join the busy engineering team as Engineering Clerk at our Plymouth Depot. This position is a key support to the Engineering team and its fleet of 80+ vehicles. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a high degree of literacy and numeracy skills; must have excellent organisational skills; and the ability to work to tight schedules. You will help to maintain computer and paper records relating to the fleet, as well as the engineering premises; and provide clerical support to the Engineering Management Team. Duties will include: Creating daily and weekly reports Maintaining engineering and staff records, accident reports, and PPE records Recording vehicle defect cards, mileage and fuel Production and issue of contractors’ work permits and other H&S documentation Creating planned vehicle services and maintaining historical data Preparing and updating MOT and safety service job cards and defect reports Inputting repairs, driver defects, breakdowns and changeovers into our engineering management system Reconciling fuel stock and usage Ad-hoc clerical duties as required It essential that you are confident in using Word and Excel to compile data and reports. Experience in the engineering field is desirable but training will be given where required, including on our engineering management system (EAM). You should also possess confident communication skills, self-motivation, and strive for accuracy and high quality in your work. The ability to plan and prioritise workloads is also essential. This is part-time, based on a 25-hour week, working Monday – Friday. Exact timings will be agreed with the Engineering Manager. The successful applicant will be required to serve a probationary period of up to 6 months. This is a one year fixed term contract - Monday 19th May 2025 - to 1st June 2026.
