Salary Circa £55,000 per annum Engineering Manager/Fleet Engineer Fancy leading a team of engineers who maintain and repair a diverse fleet of vehicles, as well as managing plant and buildings, and your own paint shop. And what if you could develop your engineering team to enhance their skills, passing on all your technical knowledge to both experienced technicians and eager-to-learn apprentices alike? Well if that sounds interesting, weâre looking for an experienced engineer to join and lead our engineering team at our Winchester depot. Youâll be leading a team of 30 professionals who are pretty nifty with a spanner, a mop and a paint brush â all of which are equally as important. Let face it, none of our customers want a dirty bus that works, or a clean and smart one that doesnât! Youâll love having the responsibility of supporting, advising and managing the team on a daily basis to maintain and repair our Winchester fleet of 50 buses, and 8 training vehicles, where youâll also have the opportunity to manage our buildings and plant equipment. It a really important role within our depot, so weâll trust you to ensure vehicles are presented to the high standards that our customers want â and thus youâll have autonomy over resource management, stock and people. That means youâll be getting stuck into ordering, managing inventory, recruiting, training, health & safetyâ¦so variety will be aplenty! And it goes without saying weâll give you support, training and development wherever you need to be a brilliant Engineering Manager. Perhaps youâre happy sticking at Engineering Manager level and that fine by us, but if you do want to progress weâll support you every step of the way. Next stop on the career ladder is Engineering Director â one of the most senior roles in our business. Youâll have the opportunity to work alongside our brilliant Engineering Director gaining exposure to work which will develop your skills and experience to allow you to progress your career further. It goes without saying that there are a couple of things we need in our prospective Engineering Managers⦠You donât have to come from a bus background (but we wouldnât be put off if you did either!), but you will need to have worked in a related field â such as the truck / light commercial / rail industries in an engineering setting. People management wonât be completely new to you either. You donât have to be an existing manager, but youâll need to be able to evidence of how youâve managed teams, irrespective of their size.
