The role As a Engineering Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive transformation within a growing business area, supporting Devonport Facilities for the Future Maritime Support Programme and transitioning to the Long Term Partnering Agreement (LTPA) over the next 18 months.

Day-to-day You’ll oversee the technical aspects of projects from initiation to handover, acting as the Technical Authority and managing resources to meet project demands.

Drive capability growth and secure new projects. Manage technical project delivery from start to finish. Partner with the Design Management Group to deliver high-quality, timely, and budget-aligned solutions for safety-critical facilities. Coordinate and lead internal and external resources to meet project needs. Implement structured design processes tailored to conventional and nuclear facility requirements.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Engineering Manager

Strong technical background with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Expertise in safety-critical design solutions, gained in a nuclear environment (e.g., ex-Royal Navy or radiological waste experience). Comprehensive design lifecycle knowledge with a logical and methodical problem-solving approach.

Qualifications for the Engineering Manager

Hold a degree in a STEM subject or demonstrate equivalent experience. Hold Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or demonstrate active progress towards accreditation with relevant professional membership.

Security Clearance The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
