The Study Support Team
The Study Support Team at UWL provides Pre-sessional English courses and Functional Skills maths and English opportunities to offer holders, students and the wider London population. The team also provides academic guidance and support to all current UWL students and offers a wide range of peer mentoring opportunities.
The Role
With an increasing demand for Pre-sessional English courses and an expanding take-up of existing courses, UWL is looking to recruit professional and enthusiastic HPL staff to deliver our online pre-sessional courses. For this role we are looking for Online and On-campus teaching of an English for Academic Purposes and Study Skills Pre-sessional Programme. Resources are in place, and you will be part of a small team of HPLs and have the support of the English for Academic Purposes Co-ordinator.
The online course is delivered for four hours 9:00 until 13:00 Monday to Friday each week (20 hours per week), or four hours Monday to Thursday, 10:00 until 14:00 (16 hours per week) for the on-campus course.
The online courses are either 15 weeks (6th May until 15th August), 10 weeks (9th June until 15th August), or6 weeks (7th July until 15th August).
We are running one on-campus course for 8 weeks from 7th July until 29th August.
You must be available for the entirety of the required course length.
The Person
The successful candidate(s) will be experienced and professional English for Academic Purposes tutors with experience of delivering either online or face-to-face pre-sessional courses. For the online pre-sessional, candidates will need to be reliable remote workers who are confident about delivering engaging online EAP lessons and be competent and experienced in the use of recent technologies for teaching and administration.
All candidates will need to be able to work effectively within a small team and have experience of working with students from a range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
