  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage and lead broad, cross-functional teams across various oncology disciplines, including early and late-stage development, hematology, and strategy.
  • Influence and Visibility: As a key member of the External R&D Leadership Team and Tumor Strategy Leadership Team, you will have significant visibility and influence within the organization.
  • Scientific Advancement: Contribute to AstraZeneca's bold vision of eliminating cancer as a cause of death by leveraging cutting-edge science and technology.
  • Robust Pipeline: Work within a company with a strong and innovative pipeline, offering both security and the opportunity to contribute to delivering new molecular entities.

Key Considerations for Candidates:

  • Strategic Vision: The role requires a visionary strategist with a proven ability to develop and execute complex workstreams from conception to implementation.
  • Strong Analytical and Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities are essential for advising senior leadership and engaging diverse audiences.
  • Interpersonal and Networking Skills: The capacity to build strong networks, foster ecosystems, and influence partners across a matrixed organization is crucial.
  • Problem-Solving and Adaptability: The ability to think critically, creatively, anticipate challenges, and navigate a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment is paramount.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Experience in leading and coaching experienced professionals, with a track record of professional development of teams, is highly valued.
  • Scientific Foundation: A PhD or MD with substantial experience in life sciences and/or consulting, with a focus on pharmaceutical R&D, business strategy, and academic partnerships, is required.
  • In-Person Collaboration: AstraZeneca emphasizes in-person collaboration, with an average of at least three days per week in the office, balancing flexibility with the benefits of co-location.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned leader with a passion for oncology and a talent for strategic engagement.
