Job Description Nuclear Fluid System Design Engineer (Group Leader)- Submarines Full time Derby/Hybrid (Min. 3-days in office) An opportunity has arisen for a Nuclear Fluid System Design Engineer with Group Leader responsibilities to join the Services Systems Group. The role presents an opportunity to develop your Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) technical knowledge leading a team of engineers and work with customers and stakeholders in the wider Submarine enterprise. The Nuclear Fluid System Design Engineer, working within a whole plant or individual system team, is responsible for creating system definitions and component specifications in the context of nuclear systems design, definition, assessment, substantiation, integration and verification activities at an integrated power system or fluid system level as applicable, in support of capability acquisition, new product introduction and in-service product support. This role sits in the Services Systems Group, part of the Availability Centre in the Services Delivery Business Unit (DBU), reporting to the Services Systems Group Manager. What you will be doing With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to: Look after staff safety and well-being and ensure that staff are appropriately trained and supervised to carry out their roles effectively and are developed for future requirements. Lead a team of Fluid Systems engineers and develop your Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) technical knowledge. Define Group strategy that aligns with the Services DBU and Submarines business strategy. Execute the planning and balancing of load and capacity in the short and medium term and deliver committed outputs to the customer at the right time, cost, and quality. Engage with external customers and enterprise partners and create an environment for continuous improvement with emphasis on sharing and searching for good practice with other areas. To be successful in this role you will need to: Hold a PhD, Masters or Batchelors degree in an Engineering or relevant Science or Mathematics degree subject with suitable experience. Demonstrate an ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems. Be proactive, persistent and customer focused with a high level of self-motivation and initiative, and able to stand-alone. Have effective interpersonal, communication and coaching skills essential for liaising with customers and undertaking a leadership role. Demonstrate a good understanding of the Submarines business and knowledge of PWR Fluid Systems.
