Global Clinical Operations (Multiple Roles & Locations) Industrial Placement, UK 2026

Job at GlaxoSmithKline in Stevenage, Hertfordshire

Embark on a transformative career journey with GSK's Industrial Placement Programme, designed to immerse you in the dynamic world of biopharmaceuticals and offer invaluable real-world experience. This programme is an exceptional opportunity for ambitious undergraduate students to contribute to groundbreaking work that impacts global health, all while developing crucial professional skills.

Key Advantages for Candidates:

  • Meaningful Impact: You'll be taking on genuine roles within live projects, contributing to GSK's mission of uniting science, technology, and talent to get ahead of disease. This means your work will have a tangible effect on improving patient lives.
  • Comprehensive Support System: GSK provides a robust framework for your development and wellbeing. This includes access to a cutting-edge wellbeing platform, a 24/7 confidential helpline, mindfulness resources, health screenings, financial wellbeing support, and private healthcare insurance with 24-hour online GP access.
  • Career Development: Beyond your day-to-day tasks, you'll benefit from opportunities to learn from experienced professionals, develop key skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and data analysis, and gain exposure to the broader drug development process.
  • Networking Opportunities: Become part of the IPUnite community, connecting with fellow early careers participants for development, networking, and social engagement. You'll also have access to LinkedIn groups and pre-joining webinars, fostering connections from the outset.
  • Generous Compensation and Benefits: A competitive salary of £27,100 (London) or £25,400 (other locations) is offered, along with an annual bonus based on company performance, and employee recognition programmes.
  • Flexible Working: Many roles offer flexible working arrangements based on performance, allowing for a blend of office and home-based work, promoting a healthy work-life balance.
  • Employee Resource Groups: Engage with Employee Resource Groups for invaluable networking, mentorship, and personal and professional growth opportunities.

Key Considerations for Your Application:

  • Strategic Application: To maximise your chances of success, GSK strongly advises applying to no more than 3 adverts. Focus your efforts on roles that genuinely align with your skills, interests, and academic background.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Ensure you meet the specific educational requirements: currently studying an Undergraduate Degree in Life Sciences, Project Management, Business Analytics, or related fields. For Role 2, only BSc Degree undergraduate students are eligible. You must have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree and be enrolled at a UK or ROI University for the duration of the placement. Postgraduate Masters students who have already graduated with a Bachelor's degree are not eligible.
  • English Fluency: Written and spoken fluency in English is a requirement for all placements.
  • Location and Start Dates: Be aware of the different locations (Stevenage and GSK HQ) and their respective start dates (June or September 2026).
  • Role Specifics: Each of the four available roles has unique departmental overviews and specific learning outcomes. Carefully review each role description to understand the responsibilities and the skills you will develop, particularly noting the distinct focus of ViiV Clinical Sciences & Operations and the ViiV Clinical Supply Team.
  • Application Timeline: Early applications are highly encouraged. The advert may close at any point as candidates are reviewed regularly.
  • Recruitment Process: Familiarise yourself with the multi-stage recruitment process, which includes an Eligibility Form, GSK Digital Assessment, and potentially a technical assessment for certain roles, culminating in a Virtual Assessment Centre or Virtual Interview.

This industrial placement at GSK is more than just an internship; it's a launchpad for your career. It's an opportunity to gain practical experience within a global leader in healthcare, contribute to meaningful scientific advancements, and build a strong foundation for your future professional endeavours. If you are a driven, curious, and motivated student, this programme offers a compelling pathway to explore your potential and make a real difference.
