The Department
The Human Resources department at UWL is structured into several key areas, including HR Systems and Data, Learning and Organisational Development, HR Partnering, and HR Operations. The team plays a crucial role in managing the entire employee lifecycle, from initial recruitment to offboarding, ensuring a positive and supportive experience for all staff members and providing essential support to managers.
The Opportunity: Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Specialist
This pivotal role reports to the Deputy Director of HR, with a direct professional line to the Head of Health and Safety. You will be instrumental in shaping and implementing UWL's health and safety strategy, policies, and procedures. The core focus will be on fostering a proactive, inclusive, and legally compliant approach to staff health, safety, and wellbeing. This position is ideal for an individual passionate about cultivating a culture of wellbeing throughout the university community.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Developing and enhancing the University's Health and Safety strategy.
- Implementing and refining policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
- Collaborating on critical areas such as Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments, Occupational Health provision, travel risk assessments, and stress management.
- Contributing to infectious disease surveillance protocols.
- Partnering with HR colleagues on wellbeing initiatives, campaigns, and training programs.
