Job Description: Highly Specialised Clinical Cardiac Physiologist - Echocardiography Cromwell Hospital, 164-178 Cromwell Road, Kensington, London, SW5 0TU Permanent Competitive Salary Full time/part time: Full-Time, 37.50 hours per week, with a flexible working shift pattern plus additional on-call commitments As the Highly Specialised Clinical Cardiac Physiologist at Bupa our patients will be your top priority. We are looking to appoint an exceptional driven individual to who’ll lead the team providing Cardiac Physiology Services within the Clinical Investigation Centre specialising in the field of Complex Diagnostics. Ideally you will have proven specialist background in Echocardiology and Non-Invasive Cardiac Physiology Diagnostics. You’ll report to the Lead Cardiac Physiologist whilst working closely with other department leaders within Cardiac Services. This position will attract an opportunity for training in our CathLabs or extend skills in the area of syncope assessment. You’ll help us make health happen by: The HS Clinical Cardiac Physiologist specialising in Echocardiography will plan and implement overall standard operational policies and procedures and assist in extending the services provided with Cardiac Physiology. In conjunction with the Head of Cardiac Services you’ll support specialised consultants body with service delivery and resources within a multidisciplinary department, managing the day-to-day performance of their line reporting, create and maintains KPI and ensures that project milestones and goals are meet and adhere to. You’ll perform a range of highly specialised cardiac ultrasound investigations, including adult transthoracic, contrast (for left ventricular opacification) and bubble study echocardiograms, 3D echocardiograms, dobutamine stress echocardiograms, assisting with transoesophageal echocardiograms, performing accurate and reproducible measurements and quantification, interpret findings and independently issue final clinically diagnostic reports, to a competent, highly specialised professional standard. You should be an independent practitioner, able to perform and report resting transthoracic scans and rhythm analysis to permanent (CRM), temporary (Holter), rest (ECG) and exercise (ETT) modalities. Leads quality assurance in attaining clinical governance standards for Cardiac Physiology, Manages Cardiac Physiology audit programmes, providing monthly data as requested by the Head of Cardiac Services and internal and external governance bodies. You’ll also carrying out some administrative, environmental and housekeeping tasks as well as having professional responsibility and involvement in organisational and supervisory issues, as appropriate to the grade/level, in addition to the clinical duties detailed above. What you'll do: To undertake echocardiographic investigations including adult, contrast (for left ventricular opacification) echocardiograms, bubble studies echocardiograms, dobutamine echocardiograms and assist with transoesophageal echocardiograms utilising a range of techniques including pulsed and continuous wave Doppler, colour flow mapping and tissue Doppler imaging. To recognise the significance of investigative findings and act on them accordingly, to prioritise the performance of echocardiographic investigations according to clinical need and provide professional guidance in echocardiographic matters when appropriate. To perform and interpret 12 lead ECG's; Fit, removal and analysis of 24-hour Holter/BP monitors; To perform and interpret Exercise Treadmill Tests, both technically and medically led. To be able to assist in Syncope assessment including the following tests: Tilt Table Testing, Autonomic Function Testing, Signal Average ECG To performed CRM Device interrogations in clinic, inpatients or in a pre-assessment setting To assist in maintaining an ordered filing and retrieval system and electronic computer database of patients' recordings, measurements, reports and attendance details and helping to provide the necessary statistical returns of activity etc. To help with the maintenance of consumable stocks and replenishment of the same as necessary, working within the department's budgetary and logistic constraints. To be trained and accredited under the auspices of the Resuscitation Council (UK) and to partake in providing Immediate Life Support (ILS) cardio-pulmonary resuscitation as and when necessary. To be self-motivated and resourceful, developing one's knowledge, skills, professionalism, demonstrating evidence of continuous professional development. What you’ll bring: BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology or BSc in Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology) or PTP equivalence Transthoracic (TTE) Level 2 accreditation by the British Society of Echocardiography or Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography Certification by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) Knowledge and experience of advanced and highly specialised procedures acquired through accredited courses. Able to perform a range of specialist diagnostic investigations on patients in a variety of clinical settings.
