Career Opportunity: Hospitality Supervisor at the University of Bath

Are you a motivated and organized individual with a passion for delivering exceptional service? The University of Bath's vibrant West Hospitality team is seeking a dedicated Hospitality Supervisor to join their dynamic catering operations. This role offers a unique chance to contribute to the university's bustling campus environment, serving a diverse range of meetings, events, and conferences.

About the Role

As a Hospitality Supervisor, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of catering services across campus. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Team Leadership: Training and guiding junior staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Operational Excellence: Managing rotas, ensuring timely preparation and dispatch of deliveries to multiple campus locations.
  • Service Delivery: Setting up and overseeing the provision of first-class catering for events and functions.
  • Compliance: Adhering strictly to financial regulations, health and safety, and food hygiene standards.
  • Shift Management: Independently opening and closing shifts, ensuring all operational needs are met.

This is a term-time role, working 30 hours per week over 42 weeks of the year. This structure, with non-working weeks typically around Christmas, Easter, and August, offers a fantastic opportunity for a strong work-life balance, a significant advantage for those seeking predictability and time for personal pursuits.

The University of Bath offers a supportive and growth-oriented environment for its staff. For this specific role, candidates can expect:

  • Financial Incentives: Eligibility for a £1,000 Campus Services New Starter Bonus, paid after successful completion of your probation period. (Note: This bonus is pro-rata for part-time positions).
  • Referral Program: Opportunity to benefit from the Campus Services Refer a Friend bonus if you are referred by a current University staff member.
  • Professional Development: Excellent support from on-site managers dedicated to promoting your personal development and career growth.
  • Work-Life Balance: The term-time nature of the role provides substantial periods away from work, ideal for planning holidays or managing personal commitments.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: A generous benefits package including free counselling, cycle-to-work scheme, staff discounts (gym, postgraduate tuition, language courses), generous pension schemes, and a strong commitment to employee well-being.
  • Inclusive Culture: The University of Bath is a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and an accredited Disability Confident Leader, committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected and valued.

To thrive in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory capacity, with a strong background in delivering excellent customer service within a customer-focused environment.
  • The ability to effectively train and guide team members.
  • A solid understanding of relevant health and safety regulations and licensing laws.
  • The capacity to work effectively as part of a team and maintain composure during peak operational periods.

This role presents a compelling opportunity for individuals looking to advance their career in hospitality within a prestigious educational institution. The combination of a supportive work environment, a healthy work-life balance, and attractive benefits makes this a position worth serious consideration for ambitious professionals.
