  • Innovation and Challenge: Engage with innovative, inspiring, and technologically challenging projects. Work with rare projects, exciting tools, and brilliant people, ensuring no two days are the same.

Your Role: Technical Expertise with Real-World Impact

As a key member of the specialist security team, you will be instrumental in building robust network management solutions. This position requires a blend of design, development, and integration skills, focused on ensuring resilient platforms for critical applications. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing & Implementing Solutions: Create and deploy robust network management solutions by designing, configuring, developing, and integrating various vendor applications for diverse network devices and host infrastructures.
  • Ensuring Resilience & Security: Utilize your experience in physical and virtual host infrastructures to build resilient platforms and implement solutions to hardened security standards.
  • Driving Project Execution: Deliver design changes, improvements, and updates throughout product lifecycles, and execute against project technical roadmaps.
  • End-to-End Delivery: Implement assured end-to-end solutions that directly meet customer operational goals.

Who They're Looking For: Skills and Growth Opportunities

BT is seeking individuals with a solid foundation in network and infrastructure management, coupled with a proactive approach to learning. While specific expertise is crucial, there's also an emphasis on continuous personal and professional development.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Network & Infrastructure Management: Proven ability to build and deploy network and infrastructure management & monitoring tools, coupled with strong knowledge of SNMP, syslog, and IP networking.
  • Multi-Vendor Integration: Experience with deploying and integrating multi-vendor applications (e.g., security tools, directory services, backup solutions).
  • Security Hardening & Documentation: Demonstrated experience in building systems and applications to hardened security standards, along with producing comprehensive High and Low-level design documentation and build guides.

Desirable (Growth Areas):

Even if you don't possess all of these, demonstrating enthusiasm for self-development in these areas would be highly beneficial:

  • Application toolset building and integration using scripting and product APIs.
  • IT Infrastructure skills, including Microsoft and Red Hat operating systems, and deployment tools like VMware templates.
  • Microsoft Active Directory experience, including Group Policy definition and deployment.
  • VMware Infrastructure deployment and management.
  • Third-party Certificate deployment (PKI) experience.
  • Storage solutions and SAN networking.
  • Database skills (SQL, Oracle), including high availability.

A Culture of Growth, Support, and Inclusivity

BT is deeply committed to its employees' well-being and career progression. This role comes with a comprehensive benefits package and a supportive, inclusive environment:

  • World-Class Development: Access unparalleled professional and personal development opportunities, with significant investment in your skills and future.
  • Competitive Compensation: Enjoy a competitive salary, a 10% on-target bonus, and a generous BT Pension scheme (10% BT contribution with a minimum 5% employee contribution).
  • Work-Life Balance: Benefit from 25 days annual leave (increasing with service), a huge range of flexible benefits (cycle to work, healthcare, season ticket loan), and paid on-call allowance.
  • Enhanced Family & Wellbeing Support (from Jan 2025): Including 18 weeks full pay for equal family leave, enhanced women’s health support, 24/7 private virtual GP appointments, and 2 weeks paid carer’s leave.
  • Additional Perks: Option to join BT Shares Saving schemes, discounted broadband, mobile, and TV packages, plus access to hundreds of retail discounts.
  • Flexibility & Inclusion: BT champions flexible working arrangements (job share, reduced hours) and is committed to building a diverse and authentic workplace. They actively encourage applications from individuals from all backgrounds, even if their experience doesn't perfectly align with every requirement.

This is an on-site position, offering the dynamic and collaborative environment of BT's specialist security teams. Candidates should be prepared for a technically demanding role that requires continuous learning and a proactive approach to problem-solving. If you thrive on complex challenges, are eager to contribute to critical national and global security, and are committed to continuous self-development, this opportunity is designed for you.
