The Role: Information Security Operations Engineer

To assist with ABP’s information security practises; To administer, prioritise, monitor and conduct business as usual Computer Security, Information Security and Cyber Security activities in line with the technical and business strategy and with Information Security industry best practice.

The ISOE will provide the response to security alerts and incidents, performing initial investigations and triage. They will work closely with ABP’s other IT operations teams, including service desk, and additionally ABP’s security partner(s), handling queries and escalations, but also providing direct guidance and support to ABP users when required

Accountabilities:

Hands-on implementation, maintaining and upgrading of systems operations and controls; Maintain and improve procedures, technologies and methods used to protect digital files and computer systems against unauthorised access, modification or destruction; Report overall security status and highlight individual systems as required; Provide evidence required for internal and external security audits or to help determine root causes of security incidents; Recommend appropriate tools and countermeasures; Performing risk assessments and testing of systems identifying prime risks and limitations that may impact computer security; Maintain security procedures with outside vendors; Maintenance of a close working relationship with ABP’s incumbent security partner(s). Maintain, review and test firewall systems, antivirus, data encryption, cloud and other security measures in place;

About you:

You will have expert level competency in the operation of the various systems and integrations that make up ABP’s information security systems suite and offer guidance and training where required.

You will have the ability to work well independently or with a team and be available to travel and work at various UK locations.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

Current industry recognised security qualification (e.g. CISMP, GSEC, or a Level 4 apprenticeship in Information Security or above); IT technical background; Good communication skills for both written and verbal reporting; Ability to communicate and guide all levels of staff; Able to work independently with a strong bias to getting things done. Understand the true value to the business of meeting objectives and timely delivery; Willingness to travel around all ports and sites as required for specific projects and generally;

Desirable

2 years or more experience of working in an operational IT role with security tools; Working knowledge of ISMS, NIS Regulations, GDPR and ITIL.
