Instrumentation/Control and Electrical Engineering Instructor

Westinghouse-Springfield Fuels Preston are recruiting for an experienced Instrumentation/Control & Electrical Engineer Instructor, holding a minimum Level 3 Instrumentation/Control/Electrical Engineering Qualification with an in-depth Control and Instrumentation experience.

If you are interested in developing the future skills needs in Lancashire region this is an opportunity, joining an Ofsted ‘Good’ (July 2022) Independent Training Provider within an employer working with a reputable and knowledgeable small team of Engineering Trainers/Instructors within the Training Academy.

The main purpose of this role is to deliver practical and theoretical teaching sessions to a cohort of Instrumentation and Control apprentices from a variety of backgrounds and local employers. This role involves working within the Westinghouse - Springfields Training Academy delivering the training to the Apprentices in the workshop and completing on-site and off-site reviews/assessment. The role also involves the opportunity to deliver to the on-site employers required site competency training.

Main Duties:

To plan, design, develop and deliver engaging and inclusive learning programmes, schemes of work, lesson plans and materials to deliver high quality structured learning sessions to meet learner and customer needs and programme specifications (required support and training will be given).

Contribute to the internal verification, assessment and standardisation of work process and to the development and delivery, in the pursuit of continuous improvement.

Supervision of apprentices including supporting safeguarding and wellbeing.

Maintain the required learner tracking records relating to learner progress, achievement, that meet company, funding, awarding body and customer requirements.

Manage the delivery environment and the learning process to ensure the safety behaviours and housekeeping alongside the well-being of all learners. To work with the site supervisors and employers ensuring guidance is contributing to the management of learner behaviour.

To ensure that all deliver session resources are safe for use and to ensure stock is ordered and managed to maintain the required level consumable items.

Ensure compliance with all legislative, regulatory and company policy standards and procedures e.g. safety, quality, risk, security applicable to the role.

What do I need to apply?

Enthusiasm for problem solving and a motivation for a role in Control & Instrumentation with Electrical.

Strong instrumentation and control along with Electrical skills with relevant knowledge and experience Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment Working in a fast pace and developing environment. Effective writing skills Ability to use standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office plus intranet and internet functions Willingness to continue professional development Knowledge of learning and development process including instructional skills, presentation skills, needs assessments, adult learning theory, curriculum planning Previous experience in training and development would be an advantage Strong presentation skills via variety of methods

Education

You will have a minimum of Level 3 qualification in Instrumentation and Control Engineering

Maths and English at GCSE Grade C or equivalent

Assessor qualification (desirable, training will be given)

IV qualification (or willing to work towards longer-term)

The level 3 teaching qualification will eventually be required

HNC/HND desirable.
