This role will be based on the University campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
Are you a current University of Leeds undergraduate student, with an interest in communications, events and digital technologies? Would you like to gain valuable experience developing events, communications projects and multi-channel campaigns that highlight the impact of digital education at Leeds?
We are looking for a current Leeds undergraduate student to join us as a Student Intern for 12 months, working as part of the wider Engagement & Communications team in the Digital Education Service (DES). The Digital Education Service is internationally recognised for the high quality of its courses and is committed to excellence and good practice. This internship is designed to enhance your employability and as such you will develop key skills and experience for your CV, including teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, organisation, high quality administration and project development.
You will be responsible for supporting the Engagement and Communications team multi-channel communications campaigns, events and digital technology activity that helps engage staff, students and external learners with digital learning. Working closely with a manager and wider teams, you will get the chance to draft articles, support on planning communication campaigns, experience delivering end-to-end social media and email campaigns, help organise strategically important Service events and help engage staff and students with new technologies and digital learning tools. You’ll also gain experience of delivering external activity to support learner engagement from planning to evaluation, considering aspects such as audience segmentation, content planning and driving engagement.
With an interest in pursuing a career in communications, marketing/events or digital technologies, you will have strong communication skills, particularly written communication and the ability to work effectively as part of a team; with a positive and proactive approach to problem solving and making improvements. You will also have excellent organisational and planning skills and the ability to complete tasks to agreed deadlines. Strong IT skills and proficiency in the use of MS Office products (particularly Word and PowerPoint) are essential.
