Knowledge Translation Fellow: Coastal Communities

The globally-renowned Energy and Environment Institute (EEI) at the University of Hull offers postgraduate education and research of international standing into how communities adapt to our changing world. 

We are now seeking a Knowledge Translation Fellow in Coastal Communities to join our growing team.

The Knowledge Translation Fellow will enhance and accelerate knowledge exchange, policy translations and research impacts across a portfolio of projects, including the UKRI and Defra-funded Coast-R Network on Resilient UK Coastal Communities and Seas (2024-2028), led by Prof. Briony McDonagh. The fellow will work closely with colleagues, partners and stakeholders across and beyond the Resilient UK Coastal Communities and Seas Programme in order to:

* disseminate collective learning and experience widely within coastal and estuarine communities, practitioners, policymakers and academia; 

* build the evidence, tools, and capacity for coastal resilience; 

* and support practical delivery of coastal transition, climate adaptation and flood resilience in coastal and estuarine regions. 

This 24-month position offers excellent career development opportunities including managing significant elements of a project, speaking at international academic conferences and policy events, and co-authoring academic publications and policy outputs.  

 

Essential Selection Criteria:

An emerging track record in an appropriate research or policy field, including authoring academic publications or policy outputs, and presentations at conferences/workshops/policy eventsExperience engaging with policy makers and other external stakeholders, including writing, coordinating or otherwise supporting the delivery of policy outputs, and of liaising with external project partners in delivering joint outputs or outcomesExperience collecting monitoring and evaluation data, e.g. from public engagement events with community groups, and writing reports and summaries from data collectedExperience designing and delivering public engagement activities and/or working with community groups, and of writing for public or policy audiencesSubject knowledge relevant to coastal and marine resilience building and/or of working in an interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary contextEffective management of significant areas of work within a project and/or strong organisational skills, evidence of ability to work independently and as part of a team, and of working in an open and transparent way
