The role As a Learning Support Officer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. To ensure that all students trained at the defence school with Specific Learning Differences (SpLD) or who need additional support to access their learning or undertake their role are supported appropriately.

Day-to-day, you’ll ensure students with SpLD are identified, assessed, and supported in a coherent and effective way.

The LSO is responsible for the effective delivery of learning support to students and for signposting of learning support to permanent staff. Delivery of study skills lessons to trainees and students. Delivery of learning support including individual and team goal setting, creating individual learning plans, coaching and development. Identify and adopt the most effective teaching approaches for pupils with SEN and share approaches with colleagues.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Lyneham

Essential experience of the Learning Support Officer

Extensive education / training quality experience (ideally in the adult sector). Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications. Delivery of specialist instruction. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates a high level of organisational skills. Strong relationship development skills.

Qualifications for the Learning Support Officer

Level 4 FE teaching qualification Level 5 (Cert Ed) or Level 6 (PGCE) A recognised qualification in Special Educational Needs

Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
