Lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy

Are you a passionate and experienced humanistic counsellor or psychotherapist looking to inspire the next generation of practitioners? 

We’re seeking a registered/accredited humanistic practitioner for a part-time (0.3 FTE – 1.5 days per week) position within our dynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy team at the University of Brighton. You’ll be joining a collaborative team of eight experienced professionals who teach across a range of modules and approaches, and we value respectful dialogue between them.

We run two courses: BACP-accredited Postgraduate Diplomas (Humanistic and Psychodynamic) and a UKCP-accredited MSc in Psychotherapy, and you will play a key role in shaping our students’ learning experience through: Delivering engaging lectures and seminars; marking and other assessment; scrutinising student portfolios; supervising research projects, selection and interviewing applicants to our courses; and support with the planning and developing of modules.

We’re looking for a colleague who has:

A relevant degreeA postgraduate qualification/PhD or an equivalent level of professional experience in psychotherapy.Professional accreditation/registration with UKCP or Accreditation with BACP.Previous teaching experience of counselling and psychotherapy at postgraduate level or extensive relevant experience.A keen interest in practice-based researchA deep understanding of, and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in both academic and practice learning settings
