Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Forensic Science

The School of Science and the Environment at the University of Worcester is seeking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic lecturer/senior lecturer to deliver teaching, learning, and assessment in the Department of Biological Sciences.  The post holder will also contribute to course development with an emphasis on Forensic Science courses.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to and deliver an outstanding learning experience for students studying the School’s taught programmes.  We are particularly interested in Forensic Science practitioners who have experience of Forensic Science disciplines.  The successful candidate are likely to hold a relevant postgraduate degree (MA/MSc/PhD) or have extensive professional experience within a relevant Forensic Science field within the UK.  Candidates for senior lecturer will also have significant experience of undergraduate teaching and a relevant Higher Education teaching qualification and/or Higher Education Academy Fellowship.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver lectures, seminars, and practical sessions within modules taught on the BSc Forensic degrees and related areas.Assist in the development of new undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Develop and update course teaching materials, ensuring they are current and relevant.Supervise and mentor undergraduate students.Participate in departmental administration and curriculum development.Contribute to the enhancement of the student experience through innovative teaching practices.

The forensic course, which comprises both current and former practitioners, has several state-of-the-art pieces of analytical equipment (e.g., ffTA, GCMS, FTIR), together with a crime scene house, archaeological searching equipment (including GPR), a human bone collection, and body fluid searching equipment such as Crimelite auto. 

The successful candidate will join a small but dynamic team that is looking to develop and expand the forensic courses available at the university.
