The Opportunity: CAM Engineer (Components Business - Machining)

At our Filton facility, we specialize in the intricate design and manufacture of large, complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components, and advanced wing systems for both civil and military aircraft. This is a unique opportunity to join our Components Business - Machining team, where you'll work with cutting-edge metallic aircraft component manufacturing, utilizing sophisticated processes like 4/5-axis machining for both hard and soft metals.

We are seeking a skilled CAM Engineer with proven experience in CAM & Simulation software and a strong understanding of Siemens and Fanuc controls. This full-time, permanent role operates on a 4.5-day week, offering a 35-hour work week with the added benefit of flexi-time. You'll be an integral part of a collaborative and supportive team of Manufacturing Engineers.

What You'll Be Doing: Your Impact and Responsibilities

As a CAM Engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping our manufacturing processes and driving excellence. Your responsibilities will include:

• Process Innovation: Developing and implementing advanced processes within our automated machining areas.
• Quality Assurance: Deploying processes with a high degree of capability, utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to ensure exceptional quality.
• Technical Leadership: Providing essential technical support for manufacturing development and integration into production.
• Problem Solving: Effectively resolving issues related to vendor quality and addressing production challenges.
• Efficiency & Improvement: Applying specialist knowledge to enhance production efficiency, elevate product quality, and minimize non-conforming parts.
• Safety Champion: Exemplifying a safety-first mindset and ensuring strict adherence to GKN Aerospace's Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
• Solution Development: Creating technical solutions for complex challenges impacting GKN Aerospace, our customers, and our suppliers.
• Continuous Improvement: Implementing Lean initiatives to continuously refine and optimize production processes.
• Root Cause Analysis: Utilizing root cause analysis, preventative, and corrective actions to eliminate non-conformances.
• Collaboration: Fostering positive and productive relationships with colleagues, internal stakeholders, and external customers.

What You'll Bring: Essential Skills and Experience

To thrive in this role and contribute to our success, you'll need to bring your passion and expertise, along with the following qualifications:

• Essential:
• Proven experience with Catia v5 CAM and Vericut within a manufacturing environment.
• An HNC/ONC in Manufacturing Engineering or relevant experience in multi-axis NC Programming.
• Ability to interpret and understand engineering manufacturing drawings and technical documentation.
• Proficiency in using standard IT packages such as MS Office.
• Desirable:
• Knowledge of and ability to implement LEAN tools and techniques.
• Experience with SAP or similar business management software.
