Job at York St John University in York, York, YO31

Full time permanent

Location: York

Salary: £29,959 to £33,482 per annum

York St John University

Situated in the heart of the historic city of York, and with the addition of our London Campus, York St John University has a long and proud tradition as a distinguished higher education provider. Our success is founded on the quality of academic teaching and research, our thriving campus environments, our professional and pastoral support, and our values of an inclusive, innovative and ambitious community with a strong sense of belonging.

The team

Here at York St John University, we are committed to equal access to higher education and contributing our talents to creating both a fairer world and a more prosperous region. This new role in our Marketing team will be at the forefront of our efforts to recruit students who share these core values. The Marketing department is part of the wider Marketing, Student Recruitment and Admissions directorate. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate on the planning and delivery of our marketing activity with colleagues across the wider Marketing team, the directorate and the University. We have a strong ethos of collaboration and open communication, and are proud of our supportive team culture.

The role

The successful candidate will work across many different projects to drive recruitment to the University. The materials we produce include online course pages, the prospectus and other publications, and materials for events such as Open Days and UCAS Fairs. Marketing Officers are expected to manage complex projects like these independently, with the support of the Marketing Manager, making decisions and problem solving throughout.

Working alongside external agencies and other members of the Marketing team, they will also contribute the planning and delivery of complex and high profile advertising campaigns across multiple channels and targetting various audiences.

An important element of this role is working closely with staff in various academic and professional service teams to produce accurate and engaging content promoting our courses, and the University as a whole. As part of the Marketing team, the successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of the University brand and style guide, maintaining brand standards across all platforms.

Required skills and experience

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with innovative and integrated marketing campaigns across a range of online and offline channels. They will also have the strong copy writing skills and creative flair needed to create content that stands out in our competitive market and engages our target audiences. This requires strong communication skills and an ability to manage internal and external stakeholders sensitively. You will need to be able to work well both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Additional information

The successful candidate will be required to work a few Saturdays a year to support our Open Days. However this will be no more than around 4 days, the dates will be communicated far in advance, and you will be able to take a day back as flexi time.

It is anticipated that the selection process will include an interview and a short presentation. Further details will be provided if you are shortlisted.
