Westinghouse - Springfields Fuels Ltd, the UKs leading nuclear fuels manufacturing site is looking to recruit Mechanical Craft Persons to support the successful delivery of essential business Maintenance and Production within our Uranium Recovery Team.
There are several roles available:
Working during Days as part of our Maintenance Team to deploy mechanical craft skills in the delivery of essential scheduled compliance and routine maintenance along with breakdown maintenance is support of plant operations. Working on Shifts as part of our operations teams, applying mechanical craft skills in response to process and equipment breakdowns whilst operating process equipment to meet exciting production and delivery challenges.
Candidates who are successful in reaching the interview stage will be asked for their preference between a strictly Mechanical Craft role with our Maintenance Team and a Mechanical Craft – Process Operator Role.
Responsibilities will include:-
All Roles:
Ensuring safe working practices are adhered to and any unsafe behaviours displayed within the team are challenged. Attendance/active participation at daily toolbox / safety talks. Use of seconds out for safety and human performance tools. Ensuring all Permit to Work documents meet the required standard before signing on to them. Ensuring all accidents, near misses and safety improvements are reported. Ensuring all nuclear safety issues are reported promptly. Taking pride in the tidiness and cleanliness of work areas, workshops, and storage locations. Highlighting any inaccuracies in maintenance / operating instructions and risk assessments. Reporting the use of plant spares to the team coordinator to allow re-ordering.
For Operations roles:
Safe operation of process equipment to meet production targets. Following Control Systems Working with local management to collect data to support improvement initiatives. Ensuring that key information is handed over between shifts to enable safe continuous operations.
For Maintenance roles:
Completing scheduled maintenance work efficiently and effectively, highlighting any delays and issues to your supervisor. Working with Area Engineers to implement key Plant Modifications. Responding to equipment breakdowns to return equipment to Operations in a safe working condition.
Your Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Engineering qualification(s) ONC/L3 Maintenance Craftperson or equivalent experience. Recognised, time served mechanical/fitter apprenticeship. Working knowledge of safe systems of work. Working knowledge of hazardous content and pressure systems. Working knowledge of practical problem solving and continuous improvement. Ability to identify issues and decide on required actions. Integrity to report human error promptly and escalate accordingly. Strong written, numerical, and oral communication skills. For Operations roles: Previous experience with SCADA and similar systems would be advantageous. Previous experience with operating process equipment would be advantageous. Previous Nuclear Industry experience is advantageous but not essential!
