Product Engineering at JLR is centred on innovation and creativity. From advanced driver assistance systems to developing the future of electric propulsion, the opportunities to create exceptional experiences for the future of motoring are wide-ranging. You'll work alongside industry experts to drive product strategy, manage programs, analyse performance, and lead transformation initiatives. Exceptional careers that bring world-renowned vehicles to life start here.

This is a senior technical leadership role at the heart of our Assisted and Automated Driving (AAD) team. You’ll lead the delivery of cutting-edge motion control software that powers the next generation of JLR vehicles. Working within a highly skilled, collaborative team, you’ll take ownership of both product and people — driving innovation, delivery, and team development in equal measure.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Lead a high-performing team delivering real-time control systems for future vehicle platforms.

Manage and develop a team of control engineers, supporting their growth, performance, and technical delivery Own the full software lifecycle — from early concept and modelling through to production deployment Deliver model-based control software using MATLAB/Simulink, supporting ADAS features from Level 1 to Level 4 autonomy Collaborate with cross-functional teams across ADAS, Chassis, Powertrain, and Electrical Engineering, as well as global partners in the UK, EU, India, China, and the US Ensure all engineering outputs meet safety, quality, and compliance standards, including ISO 26262 Drive continuous improvement in tools, processes, and delivery methods, balancing Agile ways of working with the rigour of safety-critical development

You’ll be part of the Vehicle Behaviour & Motion team — a group responsible for both lateral and longitudinal motion control, as well as motion planning. The systems you help deliver will directly impact how our vehicles feel, respond, and perform on the road — from everyday driving to fully autonomous operation.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

We’re looking for a technically strong, delivery-focused leader with deep control systems expertise and a passion for building high-performing teams.

Proven experience delivering real-time control software using MATLAB/Simulink in a production environment Strong background in vehicle dynamics, motion control, or similar domains (e.g. aerospace, robotics) Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical teams — including coaching, performance management, and delegation Deep understanding of the full engineering development lifecycle (V-model, A-SPICE), including system and software engineering principles Experience working with safety-critical systems and standards such as ISO 26262 Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align teams across disciplines and geographies

This is your opportunity to lead a technically advanced team, shape the future of motion control at JLR, and play a key role in delivering the next generation of intelligent, electrified, and autonomous vehicles.

Creating Modern Luxury requires a modern approach to work. At JLR, hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement providing employees more choice and flexibility around how, when and where they work. Some roles require more on-site work, but details of this can be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview stage.

We work hard to nurture a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all. We understand candidates may require reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process. Please discuss these with your recruiter so we can accommodate your needs.

Applicants from all backgrounds are welcome. If you’re unsure that you meet the full criteria of a role – but you're interested in where it could take you – we still encourage you to apply. We believe in people's ability to grow and develop within their role – it’s what makes living the exceptional with soul possible.

JLR is committed to equal opportunity for all.
