The Team
The PGR School sits within the Research Office and provides central professional support to all academic staff and postgraduate researchers (PGRs) in the university, as well as prospective PGRs. You will be working in a small friendly team of postgraduate officers, and will be part of a wider team of research officers and academic staff.
The Role
The Postgraduate Officer – PGR Admissions and Recruitment is responsible for the delivery and development of home and international PGR admissions, ensuring a positive and efficient experience for prospective PGRs at all stages of the application process.
The post holder will be a first point of contact in regards to all PGR admissions related enquiries, independently make decisions in respect of individual applications. The role also involves participating in recruitment events such as open days and postgraduate fairs to contribute to the recruitment of new PGR applicants.
The post holder will work closely with other members of the Postgraduate Research team, the Head of Postgraduate Research and School Postgraduate Research Leads, in support of the delivery of the university’s research plan and our renewed commitment to the PGR community embedded in the university’s 2026 strategy.
Key Requirements
The post holder will need to demonstrate comprehensive experience of working with Microsoft Office applications. Experience in the development, enhancement and documentation of administrative systems and procedure, along with the experience of providing advice and guidance to academic and administrative colleagues at all levels in a university or organisation of similar scale and complexity.
The successful candidate will have a passion for research and in particular supporting students and prospective students to have a positive university experience.
