The role
SSEN Transmission are seeking a Power Control Engineer to join us to ensure the safe and reliable operation of Scotland's high-voltage electricity network. You will use yourexpertiseto control, monitor, and analyse the transmission network in real-time, making crucial decisions to ensure grid security and stability.
This is a shift position working day/backshift. Shift work will be applicable once training for the position is complete.
You will
- Coordinate the commissioning of programs and operational data.
- Ensure power system analysis of electricity flows andreal time switching and decision making on electrical network up to/including 400kV
- Display understanding principles of real and reactive power flow, and voltage.
- Experience and clear understanding of a safe system of work.
- Ensure the provision ofappropriate supervisorycontrol and data acquisition (SCADA) displays and Power System Simulator for Engineering (PSS/E) models prior to network changes.
You have
- A minimum of an HNC in electrical engineering and will ideally have experience as a senior authorised person. (SAP)
- You will have a relevant background in electrical power system operation.
-Strong communicationskills and the ability to communicate complex issues effectively to a diverse range of stakeholders.
- You will be a team player and work well in a knowledge sharing culture.
- A flexible and proactive approach to workin order toachieve results and thrive under pressure.
-Previousexperience working in a control room environment desirable.
