An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Fellow to join the Centre of Evidence Based Dermatology (CEBD) which is part of the Unit of Lifespan and Population Health within the School of Medicine. Led by Professors Kim Thomas and Hywel Williams, CEBD has an international reputation for independent research into the prevention and treatment of skin disease. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a large National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) funded programme of research into eczema online trials, led in partnership with citizen scientists (Rapid Eczema Trials https://rapideczematrials.org/ ). You will play a senior and significant role in this project as Knowledge Mobilisation lead and will be responsible for driving the strategy and delivery of this programme grant workstream. You will also support trial development and process evaluation activities for Rapid Eczema Trials.
You will be expected to develop new concepts and ideas and develop and win support for innovative research development proposals and funding bids. Building relationships and collaborations with internal and external contacts, nationally (and if appropriate internationally) to complete the Rapid Eczema Trials research programme will be key.
Experience of Knowledge Mobilisation, Process Evaluation and related research methodologies (including co-design work with patients), working in the field of eczema and excellent communication skills across a wide range of media are all essential, along with the ability to devise, advise on and manage research programmes. Previous experience of working in a public science communications role is desirable.
This role is available on a fixed term basis until 31/08/27. Hours of work are part-time (29 hours maximum to a minimum of 21.75 hours) – please state your preferred hours on your application. Job share arrangements may be considered. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
