We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated Research Associate/Fellow to work with our lithium-sulfur battery team. Candidates must have (or almost completed) a PhD in physical chemistry, synthetic chemistry, electrochemistry, materials chemistry, or a related discipline. The candidate will work within the Nottingham Applied Materials and Interfaces Group at the University of Nottingham, reporting to Profs. Darren Walsh, Lee Johnson, and Graham Newton. The lithium-sulfur battery is very promising for our future energy-storage requirements, as it has the potential to exceed the specific energy of the lithium-ion battery. However, the performance of the battery is limited by several technological challenges. This project will focus on the interfacial processes occurring within lithium-sulfur cells and the development of chemical strategies for mitigating degradative interfacial process that limit cell performance. The post is available on a full time (36.25 hours per week), fixed term contract until 30 April 2027.
