The primary aim of project is to investigate a range of pathways towards resilient and secure net zero energy systems in the UK and internationally. The research is aimed at investigating the impact of decarbonisation, decentralisation, and digitalisation, including climate change and advanced technologies, on the resilience and security of supply of future energy networks. It will involve the modelling and analysis of future energy networks, including electricity, heating, and gas, and the interactions and interdependencies between them under exceptional circumstances.
We are seeking to appoint a candidate who can demonstrate a strong background in several areas and a willingness to learn and bolster their skills throughout the post to meet the demands of such interdisciplinary research.
We are seeking a candidate with strong expertise in energy networks and interdisciplinarities in scientific and industrial applications; experience collaborating with colleagues from other disciplines and non-academic institutions; and aspiration to translate research outputs into outcomes and long-term impact.
You will be working as part of an academic team and be responsible for delivering high-quality research on the topic, including:
Modelling, simulation, and analysis of real-based energy networks over a range of scenarios considering interdisciplinary and intersectoral aspectsDevelopment of forward-looking risk analysis and mitigation approaches to enhance energy network resilience to extreme eventsAnalysis of performance indicators from energy system operators and experimental validationsWork at the interface between the Hub and other academic and non-academic partners while exploring synergies with relevant research institutes and centres at Bath, such as the Institute of Sustainability and Climate ChangeStimulating and creating pathways to impact, dissemination of the research outcomes, and exploitation of the research beyond academiaAs a member of Research Staff at the University of Bath, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year
A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 6) with comparable reduction in responsibilities and amendment in job title to Research Assistant, if a suitable applicant cannot be found to fill the Grade 7 position.
