We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher of high calibre to join our research program in the area of integrated silicon photonics. The position is funded by the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) project: 3D Polysilicon Photonics - A New Platform for Integrated Optoelectronics. The research will focus on the development of a flexible polysilicon platform that can be designed and optimised for both passive and active photonic components, allowing for the full suite of device functionality to be incorporated via simple and low-cost processes on a single chip. A strong background in the design and fabrication of silicon photonic devices, advanced characterization techniques, and an interest in semiconductor materials optimization is highly desirable, along with an aptitude for developing new experimental techniques that relate to this exciting research program.
To be successful with your application, you will need to demonstrate:
An awarded PhD in Physics/Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience.Excellent experimental research skills in the area of integrated photonics, with a strong publication track record in high-quality international journalsA willingness and ability to help with the supervision of PhD studentsExcellent communication and organizational skills, and a proven ability to work well within teamsThe appointment is for a 3-year fixed period, ideally starting in November 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
