## Opportunity for Ambitious Researchers: Dive into Policy-Relevant Preference Research Are you a driven researcher with a passion for understanding human decision-making and its impact on policy? This role offers a compelling platform for you to advance your career within one of the UK's leading research-intensive universities. If your expertise lies in stated preference research, choice modelling, economics, econometrics, statistics, or health data science, this is an opportunity you won't want to miss. This **two-year fixed-term position** (available immediately) places you at the heart of a dynamic and well-established research team. You will be immersed in a broad spectrum of funded projects, leveraging diverse statistical, econometric, and health economic evaluation methodologies. The university's commitment to your professional growth is a significant advantage, evident in their support for conference attendance and access to cutting-edge training in contemporary research methods. Furthermore, you'll be empowered to cultivate your own areas of specialization and pursue your unique research interests. ### Key Advantages for Candidates: * Impactful Research: This role is centered on three significant projects funded by the NIHR and Nuffield Foundation. These projects address crucial policy questions by eliciting preferences using advanced stated preference methods such as Discrete Choice Experiments (DCEs) and Best-Worst Scaling (BWS).

  • Palliative and End-of-Life Care: Contribute to developing an integrated approach to community-based palliative and end-of-life care, understanding patient and carer priorities.
  • Workplace Health and Wellbeing: Quantify the value of health and wellbeing services (HWS) for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and identify implementation barriers.
  • Musculoskeletal Conditions: Investigate the economic impact of musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions and explore employers' preferences for workplace interventions.
* Collaborative Environment: You will have the invaluable opportunity to collaborate with a wider research team, ensuring your contributions lead to impactful and policy-relevant findings. * Professional Development: The university offers robust support for your career advancement, including:
  • Opportunities to attend conferences and present your work.
  • Access to training in advanced statistical, econometric, and health economic evaluation methods.
  • Support to develop your own areas of expertise and research interests.
* Attractive Benefits Package: Beyond the research itself, this position comes with a generous package designed to support your work-life balance and financial well-being:
  • Generous Holiday Entitlement: 26 days of annual leave plus approximately 16 bank holidays and university closure days, totaling around 42 days per year.
  • Excellent Pension Scheme: A substantial university contribution of 14.5% of your salary, along with life assurance.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Discounted access to a state-of-the-art campus gym with extensive facilities.
  • Personal Development: Access to a wide range of courses through the Organisational Development & Professional Learning team, including languages, creative writing, and wellbeing therapies.
  • Additional Perks: On-site childcare, shopping discounts, and travel schemes.
* Visa Sponsorship: The role may be suitable for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route, and eligibility under the Global Talent visa will also be considered for research and academic posts. ### Key Considerations for Candidates: * Required Background: A strong foundation in stated preference research, choice modelling, economics, econometrics, statistics, or health data science is essential. * Policy Focus: A genuine interest in studying preferences and decision-making to address policy-relevant research questions is crucial for success in this role. * Contract Length: The position is available for two years in the first instance. Candidates should consider their career goals within this timeframe. * Salary Range: The salary for this position ranges from £41,064 to £48,822 per annum, reflecting the seniority and expertise required. This role presents an exceptional chance to contribute to meaningful research that has the potential to shape policy and improve lives. If you are seeking an intellectually stimulating and supportive environment to further your research career, this opportunity warrants your serious consideration.
