This is an exciting opportunity to join our Students' Union sports team at the University of Bath.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate rowing coach to lead the development and delivery of the University of Bath Student Rowing Club’s senior training programme.
This exciting role involves planning and implementing high-level training plans, building strong relationships with students and fostering partnerships with Minerva Bath Rowing Club and other key stakeholders.
You will play a pivotal role in athlete development, delivering technical coaching across water and erg sessions, supporting competition preparation, and ensuring a clear pathway for student progression. Connecting to existing programmes such as the Breakthrough Athlete Programme and Performance Development Academy.
Alongside coaching responsibilities, you will work closely with the Student Rowing Committee to support strategic planning, administration, recruitment, and communication, helping to drive the success of the club and its members.
We are looking for someone who is confident in delivering high-quality coaching, providing technical feedback, and inspiring athletes to achieve their full potential - while helping them develop as well-rounded individuals both on and off the water.
You will
hold a degree in a sports-related subject or equivalent vocational coaching experience at Level 4possess a UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Rowing as a minimum, with Level 3 being desirable, alongside RYA Level 2 Powerboat Handling and UKAD Coach Clean certification. have experience coaching rowing at a development level within a pathway programme and a strong track record in sport development.have knowledge of BUCS rowing systems and student-specific events is required, as well as an understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion strategies in sport.have knowledge and experience of an integrated model of delivery is advantageous.demonstrate excellent organisational skills, reliability, and the ability to work under pressure while managing multiple priorities.Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with empathy for student-athlete demands. You should be self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, and committed to continuous improvement and professional development.
A full UK driving licence with trailer towing capability is essential, and safeguarding training is desirable.
This is a part-time role (29.2 hours per week/0.8 fte), working 42 weeks per year for a fixed-term period until March 2029
