Science Communicator R3)

Job at Wrexham Glyndwr University in Wrexham, LL11

About Us

Xplore! Science Discovery Centre is a unique visitor attraction and educational charity in the heart of Wrexham city centre. It is the place where science comes alive and there is nothing quite like it in the region. The team at Xplore! are passionate, committed, and welcoming to all. Xplore! is a flexible employer able to facilitate a wide range of personal circumstances allowing a wider range of people to be involved in the important job of inspiring future scientists.

About the role

Science Communicators are the heart of everything we do at Xplore! It’s a role where no two days are ever the same. You could be with families within our centre on a Saturday, going out to a secondary school with our planetarium on a Wednesday and then developing a brand-new workshop covering biodiversity on a Friday. As a science communicator you will be inspiring and will foster a love of science in all.

About you

As a Science Communicator you will have a keen interest in science and be passionate about communicating with people about anything and everything. You love engaging, talking and presenting to a wide range of audiences. We believe that confidence and subject knowledge can be built and learnt over time but showing initiative and wanting to give something a go will be second nature to you. You are an excellent team player while also having the ability to be a self-directed worker. Whilst having a background in science is useful, it certainly isn’t a deal-breaker and a drive to learn is just as important.

We are currently looking for Welsh speakers with weekday and weekend availability to support the delivery of our programmes across North Wales. As this role involves going on outreach so it essential that you are 18+ years old. The ability to drive is also advantageous. Representation is incredibly important for sparking a passion for science, with that in mind Xplore! celebrates diversity and welcomes applications from all backgrounds.

Closing Date: 08 May 2025
