About this opportunity: Weâre looking for a Senior Weather Analyst with expertise in hydrology, meteorology or physical science to join our Weather Modelling Team in Lloyds Banking Group General Insurance. In this role, youâll apply your knowledge to catastrophe modelling, helping us assess and manage the financial impacts of extreme weather events. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of science, data, and decision-makingâshaping how we understand and respond to climate-driven risks in a fast-evolving landscape What youâll be doing: Develop the LBG view of natural catastrophe risk across multiple functions including pricing, underwriting and Solvency II capital requirements Support the internal response to weather events Oversee the production and quality assurance of flood risk Management Information by other team members Investigate the use of new data sources, products and methods Presentation of key modelling approaches and outcomes to senior General Insurance committees Engagement with 3rd parties such as reinsurance broker, model vendors and data providers Why Lloyds Banking Group ? Join us on our journey and can too⦠What youâll need: A higher degree (Master or PhD) or equivalent in Meteorology or a related natural hazards field such as Geography, Earth Sciences, Physics, OR extensive industry experience in the application or development of natural catastrophe models in the UK Excellent knowledge of UK weather risks, their relevance to home insurance and associated modelling techniques Highly numerate with strong analytical skills Proficient in object based programming languages such as R Familiarity with handling and manipulating large and spatial datasets, with a background in statistical techniques and modelling Self-motivated, with the ability to work under stress both independently and cross-functionally with other business units Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical data effectively to a mix of technical and non-technical collaborators It would also be useful if you had: Prior experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Experience with vendor Catastrophe models such as RMS or AIR About working for us: Our ambition is to be the top tier UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion supporting our customers, colleagues and communities, and weâre committed to creating an environment in which everyone can thrive, learn and develop.
