Do you want to be part of leading the operational technology future for the UK's largest port? We are looking for an enthusiastic engineer to lead our port technology team. This exciting opportunity fits someone who can drive forward a team of engineers to ensure both existing and future asset operation is optimised through the use of effective operational technology. Our Humber region covers four ports in Immingham, Grimsby, Goole and Hull. This includes a vast array of radar systems in the Humber River, multiple access points around security controlled areas, and controls based systems to assist with the running of our operational equipment in order to Keep Britain Trading. We're currently looking to recruit a Senior Controls System Engineer to join the Humber team and lead with the planning and delivery of all operational technology systems within the Humber, including PLC’s and computer technology. The role will be responsible for managing a team of six covering assets across the port estate, including control systems, PLCs, radar systems, CCTV, Control systems and Radio systems. The role will be based from Immingham, but you will need to split time between the other ports in the region on a weekly basis.

Accountabilities - Responsible for leading and developing a team of highly skilled control and electronics engineers to ensure the sustained business operations and drive key business development opportunities.

- Asset ownership of the Humber’s control systems, electronics and Physical security. Responsible for producing asset investment plans based on asset condition and criticality.

- Lead on delivery of Control/Electronic/Physical Security projects within the Project Department; from project scope, tendering, sub-contract management, delivery and commissioning of schemes.

- Identify and prepare cost estimates for both present and future capital expenditure and maintenance works relating to departments of responsibilities

- Develop and assist the maintenance teams with ongoing system familiarisation training.

- Formulate fault finding systems in order to assist the maintenance department in break down situations.

- Keep in regular contact with operations staff to ensure all equipment is available when required ensuring any necessary repair works are undertaken as quickly as possible in a cost effective and safe manner.

- Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with all relevant Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work modifying as required due to changes in working methods and or the introduction of new regulations.

- Provide Out-of-Hours support to Operations and Engineering teams when required in line with Call-out Rotas.

Skills & Experience - Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in electrical/electronic engineering.

- Excellent fault finding and problem diagnosis skills.

- Working knowledge of Control Systems, PLCs, SCADA, Variable Speed Drives desirable.

- Working knowledge of UHF/VHF radio communications, RADAR, and UAIS systems desirable.

- Working knowledge of digital communications and networking protocols.

- Working knowledge of CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarms, Fire Detection systems.

- Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft applications, some programming experience advantageous.

- Knowledge of health and safety practices.

- A key passion for driving technological development of plant operations using control system engineering.

- Full driving license essential.
